No Kings – “Steady Yourself” EP Review – By Josh Bennett

The latest buzz of new music comes from easy skankin San Diego locals, No Kings. The 4 piece threw together an EP titled “Steady Yourself” which features 4 songs all self-produced as is the case with most bands looking to make a path for themselves.

The first thing I notice when listening is how well the recording sounds despite everything being a self-production. So big ups to those dudes for grindin’ themselves and working hard! 4 tracks all really well written out and tracked nicely shows the work that No Kings are putting into their music. Another thing that stands out is the fact that they include an instrumental in an EP! I guess saying instrumental isn’t the same as calling it more of a jam. Either way, it’s a great way to show the world what kind of band they are and what kind of music they create.

Hands-down my favorite track off “Steady Yourself” is “On The Floor” keeps me dancing the entire ride home. I can’t wait for these guys to come out to the east side to spread the music because my favorite thing about new music is sharing it with my friends and family. Be sure to check out No Kings on their “Steady Yourself Tour” supporting acts like Tunnel Vision, The B Foundation, Kyle Smith, and our 2018 Album of the Year winners, Bumpin Uglies!
