Cali Roots X Preview – Andrew Sandoval

As May quickly approaches, we at Reggae 360 are looking forward to another amazing weekend on the West Coast. Of course, we are never let down by the ability of California Roots to maintain a diverse lineup of artists. It’s the festival we’ve come to expect to be the standard for music festivals. It’s our annual spot to pick up a slushy from locally owned and operated UCE Juice. It’s also where we can wander the grounds and find our favorite artists’ paintings on display. It’s where your favorite artists get to see their favorite artists. It’s where the west coast mist comes in as the sun goes down, and it’s where you can rock a hoodie and shorts. It’s our backyard. It’s Cali Roots X!

So here it is: the final announcement. It’s definitely not Cali Roots without Rebelution bringing their good vibes to close out the 10th annual festival on Sunday. We have no doubt there will also be some surprises along the way.

Cali Roots is also welcoming the legendary UB40 for the first time to share some “red red wine”. They welcome back Cypress Hill to add some “hits from the bong” as well. Let’s not forget that we have another chance to see SOJA rock the stage. Artist of the Year finalist The Elovaters will also make their first appearance. Saturday night spotlights one of our favorites: “local” boys The Expendables from Santa Cruz, CA, who will likely be sharing a “bowl for two”. Saturday night also allows us to revisit the amazing performance from Tash Sultana that most of us cannot forget from Cali Roots IX. Who remembers Protoje’s “California Love” mashup? We get a chance to get “Stoopid” as the evening ends on Saturday. Friday will bring some echoes of “life without music” as Steel Pulse returns. In addition, Cali Roots will “let the drummer kick” as it welcomes festival first-timer Citizen Cope of Ineffable Music. Speaking of Ineffable, let’s not forget Stick Figure closing out Friday night to some “smokin love”.

All in all, we continue to be in awe of California Roots’ ability to continuously provide a high quality and diverse lineup. May cannot come soon enough. Please make sure to visit for the full lineup and tickets. See you in May!
