To celebrate Earth Day 2020 California Roots has announced its continued focus and partnerships on maintaining a green festival. According to the California Roots Official website “… dedication to creating an environmentally conscious event that benefits the surrounding community engages the attending fans and provides a music model, that is truly sustainable.” With this year’s festival being rescheduled for October 9-11, California Roots has managed to hold 100% of its lineup. Amazing to say the least. In addition, California Roots will continue to lead the way in sustainability and has been recognized as an “Outstanding Green Event” by Fest X, receiving additional recognition from Pollstar, Medium, and Festival Squad.
Reducing landfill continues to be a priority. The festival has implemented compostable dining ware, the Steel Pint Program, and the elimination of single-cup use to minimize waste. In partnership with Blue Strike Environmental “Green Team Ambassadors” are strategically placed in areas where high follow waste areas.

Reggae 360 was able to reach out to James Anderson, CEO of UCE JUICE based in the Monterey Bay area. UCE JUICE has been a regular vendor at the California Roots Festival. They make a delicious all-natural tropical blend juice that can be served as
a slushy that is perfect for a much-needed energy boost throughout the festival. For those that have attended the festival in the past, you might recognize UCE JUICE’s team passing around samples of the tropical blend over the weekend. According to Mr. Anderson, reducing waste will continue to be a priority as well. The goal for UCE JUICE is to recycle as many products they possibly can while producing a responsible environmentally friendly product. According to Anderson “Going green is a way to pay back the environment and Mother earth for all the good she’s done for us. I think it’s important to recognize how blessed we are and it’s only right to take action towards things that help our world instead of hurting it.”
California Roots 2020 partners include Blue Strike Environmental, California Green Business Network, Green Pedal Courier, Redwood Forest Foundation Inc (RFFI), REVERB, Save Our Shores, and TripZero.
