Reel Big Fish – Life Sucks…Let’s Dance – Album Review by Josh Bennett

After 6 long years, pioneer ska band, Reel Big Fish has released their eleventh album “Life Sucks…Let’s Dance!” As with any RBF record, the horns were the first to attract me. Fun fact, the RBF horn section wrote and produced all the horns on Tunnel Vision’s newest album “Days Away” a personal favorite of mine with the horns also playing a major part in that.

Its a 14 track record ranging from angry ska punk tracks, to mushy love songs for some steady skankin with the ones you love. The album concludes with an island-feel instrumental featuring the band rescue dog Walter showing off his vocal range!

It’s clear that after over half a decade, Reel Big Fish has not lost any of their artistic style centered around comedy, irony, and reel life issues. Track #8 is an interesting song with an even better message, titled “Bob Marley’s toe” the band speculates on how the world would have been more positive and in better shape had the legend followed medical advice and amputated his toe before cancer could spread throughout his body.

In the world we live in today, we can use whatever positive aspects presented to us to lift our spirits. I cant think of a better album to drop my problems and dance to than “Life Sucks…Let’s Dance!”
