The Irie

Founding member and Lead Singer George Ruiz, Drummer Johnny Groove, & Bassist Marcus Mapes released their first EP together with producer Matt Kellar titled “Coming Down” in 2020. The Irie hail from Phoenix, AZ with a fresh reggae-rock sound influenced by bands like Sublime, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, RX Bandits, & The Red Hot Chili Peppers. A new single is expected early summer 2020 with a feature from Moi of Tomorrows Bad Seeds.

More About The Band:

Before Joining The Irie – Drummer Johnny Groove played drums for The Veragroove who played California Roots sharing stages with Rebelution, Katastro, This Is Dirty Heads, Tribal Seeds, Iration, Fortunate Youth and many more.

After he moved to L.A, he played shows with Moi of Tomorrows Bad Seeds, Ease Up, and Jason J.

Bassist Marcus Mapes comes from the group Good Rust, a well known Local band in AZ. They have rocked major venues like Marquee Theatre and many other popular spots around the state.

Founder George Ruiz was dealing with trials & tribulations since the start of The Irie, but he always kept The Irie name strong and it paid off when everything was made it right & he found the line-up he had always been looking for.
